So it begins…

Brasil Telecom confirmed: “It was a court order”. Bia Kunze and CBN Radio talked to the company´s Press department and finally there´s an official statement:

“It was a court order and we´ve no further comments about it”

So the whole YouTube service is now blocked for millions of users because of a single video, that is against it´s rules anyway.

The judges can´t understand how the Internet works and we get the shortest straw?

Yes, Virginia, the user. A whole service out? Is Daniela Cicarelli bigger than RIAA? Is she bigger than MPAA? Don´t think so. It´s our own Legal System that´s wrong.

Judges are not gods. They can´t decide the fate of millions with a single penstroke. Frack, they were not even ELECTED.

  1. Dude, i agree (totally) with you when you say that is, at ve very least, absurd a single video shut down a whole website (mainly because we`re dealing with a website that contais millions of videos).

On the other hand, i believe that you`re a little uninformed about the power of judges and why it`s exercise is legitimate.

So, a judge is not elected. Great! So (s)he won`t be compromised with a few sponsors or with an ideological party.

Come on! We`re talking about the person whose job is to solve disputes. How can such guy be elected (with the implied consequence of being suscetible of losing it`s job, depending on wich people s/he helps with it`s decisions). NO! Judges must be “chosen” by some impartial mean, and they must be sure that they can express their opinion (a.k.a. DECIDE) in a strictly impartial way.

Sure, they`re not gods, they fail (a lot), and that`s why their decisions are subject of revision by someone else (another judge, of course).

In the end, SOMEONE must have this power (unless you`re some kind of anarchist). Would you rather put it in the hands of our so-capable congressmen (women)?

    just my 2 cents

  2. Tomorrow we have the reality show BigBrotherBrasil going live. This event is famous for keeping thousands of streamming connections plus the fact that people rip those and post in youtube. How can we avoid paying interconnection taxes and reduce our bandwidth overload?
